Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in Trinity’s Annual Meeting; it was great to see everyone and make decisions about the mission and ministry of Trinity United Church.

Today at 1pm, as part of our Lenten journey, and our path towards reconciliation with our Indigenous sisters and brothers, the Christian Education Committee is offering a workshop “Our Journey as an Indigenous People” led by Gloria Cook, from the Indigenous Ministries and Justice Unit. This workshop is based on the Medicine Wheel and helps us to understand better this journey. We’ll meet on Zoom, watch and listen to the presentation, followed by discussion. This workshop was offered at the Region Annual meeting last year. Here is the link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81657324740?pwd=Y2xUV3NNS21jNE9sVDF1RHkwNlR6dz09 Meeting ID: 816 5732 4740 Passcode: 772806 or call 204 272 7920 to join by phone.

Research Survey:The United Church of Canada is conducting a research survey to better understand the opinions and perceptions of our community on a variety of topics, including our communications. Your feedback and insights will be critical in helping the United Church, and we would very much appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey. As a thank you for your time, by completing this survey you will be entered into a draw for a $500 donation to the charity of your choice. If you are selected as the winner, The United Church of Canada will make this donation directly to the charity. If you would like to participate, please visit this link.

FAQ about Sabbaticals: Who will be leading worship while Elizabeth is away on sabbatical? The Sabbatical Advisory Group (SAG) and the Worship Committee assure us that many folks will help us with worship. They see it as an opportunity to hear from other voices, experience different kinds of worship, and to ponder the question “what does the church mean to you?” Some committees and groups, some familiar faces from our congregation, and some new people will all take a Sunday during this time and bring us meaningful, participatory worship for all of us.

Programs at Trinity:

Bible Study: Mondays, 7-8pm – come join this group of diverse, unique folks as we explore the scriptures for the coming Sunday, lending your voice to the message for the week; contact Elizabeth for the invitation

SSCFF Yoga: Mondays, 1:30-2:30pm –  Incorporates adaptable postures, movement and meditation

Holy Yoga: Saturdays, 10-11am followed by coffee –  Prayer, meditation and movement are incorporated, with a time of fellowship following practice.    .

Both practices are “beginner friendly” and offer adaptations to suit all levels.   All are welcome. Due to the current Covid situation, all classes will be offered on the zoom platform until further notice. If you are interested in exploring holy yoga, or SSCFF yoga, contact the Trinity office, or Irma Nadeau to receive the zoom link. Questions?  Contact Wynn Ferguson at wynnferguson@gmail.com.

Sermon by phone: Listen to the recording of Sunday worship each week by calling a local phone number (204-410-1384). Please share this information with your friends who don’t have internet access; the recording is uploaded on Thursdays and is available until the following Wednesday.

Know that we are praying for each one of you as you find your way through this time. May you know God’s presence and peace with you as we continue to move through this new reality,

Elizabeth

Scripture to ponder for the week: Romans 8:28: Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Scripture for March 20, 2022Isaiah 55:1-9; Psalm 63:1-8; I Corinthians 10:1-13; Luke 13:1-9

the writer reminds us of God’s abundant love, acceptance and care. As we move through Lent, what opportunities are there to hear God’s voice calling us to reflect and respond?

FAQ about Sabbaticals: What do people do when they are on sabbatical? What is a little Sabbath? It is a time when you are down, not up; receiving, not giving; being, not doing. It is time set apart that is different from ordinary time. It is departure from your allotted time into God’s time, which is as much your home as your allotted time is. It is special time, when we reflect on our actions and let them seep into our souls. Sabbath is moving into the eternal from the daily, to a little bit of heaven from a lot of earth. It is sacred time. Sacred time is the time of praise and gratitude. It is not measured in minutes and hours but in something larger, as big as eternity. Ashes to ashes, stardust to stardust, I like to say.

Scripture to ponder for the week: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Scripture for March 13, 2022: Genesis 15:1-12,17-18; Psalm 27; Philippians 3:17-4:1; Luke 13:31-35
