Moment for Tuesday, September 13, 2022

We hold Meryle and Ben Berg’s sister Susan in our prayers as she journeys through cancer and is in hospice. 

We hold in prayer the family of Alice Allen on her death early this week. We will post details about her service in the next little while. 

The people of The United Church of Canada express our profound grief at the tragic events in James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon, Saskatchewan. Moderator Carmen Lansdowne, expressed her pain on hearing of these attacks and committed her ongoing prayers for “the families of the victims, and survivors as they deal with the resulting trauma.” Read the full news story.  

Members of The United Church of Canada join with others in Canada, Bermuda, the Commonwealth, and many other parts of the world in mourning the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth was 96 years old. Read the full news story and prayer.

September Staffing News from our Ministry and Personnel Committee

We have accepted with regret the resignations of both Steve Taplin, effective at the end of July, and Bert Johnson who will be leaving his job with us at the end of September. We have appreciated Steve’s excellent work with us during the past year and wish him well in future endeavours. As of August 23, we have been pleased to welcome Kathy Parker as our Office Administrator/Receptionist.

We also are pleased to announce Héctor Pinzón as our Accompanist as of September 1 and are looking forward to his work with us.

We greatly appreciate Bert’s excellence as our Choir Director over many years and his exceptional contributions as our Music Director during these past two years of virtual worship services. We wish him well in his additional role of studies and research at university. We are currently advertising for a new Choir Director.

We are pleased that Irma Nadeau will be attending the Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors Retreat in Ontario later this month. She will be absent from work beginning on September 14 through to September 19, inclusive.

Office hours return to regular hours (9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday).

Trinity Walkers: September 20th. Let’s walk Lindenwood Park in the visitor parking lot of my condo complex 873 Waverley St. All walks start at 9:30. Please let me know if you plan on joining me or have any questions and/or ideas for future walks and phone me if you would like to arrange a walk for another time

Holy Yoga: Saturdays at 10am on Zoom, followed by fellowship coffee.

Bible Study: Mondays at 7-8pm on Zoom.

SSCFF: Tuesdays at 1:30pm – fitness/tai chi; Wednesdays at 10:30am – yoga – more details to follow

Bring your lawn chairs or use one of ours; connect with your friends and come together; begin the year with a time of faith and fellowship! If you have an outdoor game for any age, bring it along for us to play!

We’d love to fill the grocery cart for West Broadway this Sunday! Please bring a food item for the emergency cupboard or supplies for supper meals they prepare and serve.

Always needed are: pasta, sauce, beans, canned vegetables, meat or fish, rice, soups, oatmeal, cereal, granola bars.

or hygiene supplies including shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant.

The Bombers are looking for a few more people to work the Banjo Bowl on Saturday September 10th from 12:30-4:30pm to sell tickets for parking. If you’d like to help out, please be in touch with Irma or Marilyn or Elizabeth. If you’ve never done this before and would like to try for this game, we can give you a bit of training to help you. They are expecting a lot of people and having extra folks to sell tickets for parking would be an enormous help; plus it would be a bonus for Trinity’s fundraising efforts! The time goes by quickly and you’ll be done shortly after kickoff.

A new Administrative Assistant has been hired. Kathy Parker is in the office; say hi if you’re in the building! We return to regular office hours Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm next week.
