“World Day of Prayer” is celebrated in many countries around the world, and services have traditionally been held the first Friday in March. Each year, a different country or region in the world has been featured. This year, it is the Cook Islands. Over many years, services have been held in various churches in Winnipeg, and Trinity has hosted services, the last time being in 2020. Since Covid, in-person services have diminished. This year, there is renewed interest in having a service in the Fort Richmond/Fort Garry area. Nancy DeLong is coordinating this event with Trinity hosting an in-person service this year. The date will be set shortly. If you would be interested in attending, or would like to help out, please contact Nancy at 204-254-3450, or email: nanter1@shaw.ca

*From the Ministry & Personnel and Property Committees: For those of you who signed up for our cleaning team, an orientation will be held following the service on February 16th. Anyone else who may be interested, but didn’t sign up, you are welcome to join us. Please plan to stay if you are able – meet Sandi in the Narthex. Thank you

Feel free to include family and friends. There is a place for everyone.

Good Shepherd Painting Event Rescheduled – for February 22 in the Lower hall from 9:00 a.m. until about noon. Now that the busy holiday season has left us looking for something else to do, why not try your hand at painting? If you think you have no artistic talent this event could prove you wrong! With the able tutelage from Garth (well-known Prairie artist) and Di (the Encourager) you will create something worthy of hanging in your home … really. What to paint is entirely up to you … it’s not one of those ‘everybody paints the same thing’ kind of workshops. Start time is 9 am in the Lower Hall and we’ll paint till around noon. Then we’ll have a soup lunch (3 varieties) with bread/buns and dessert – all provided. The cost is $75/person ($25 will go to Di and Garth for supply costs and $50 to Good Shepherd). Just because it’s a fundraiser for Good Shepherd does by no means mean that no one else can join. We’d love to have some Trinity folks come and enjoy in the comradery and food but most of all in the fun and encouragement of each other! Cheques should be made out to Church of the Good Shepherd and put in our Wardens’ mailbox (above the coat rack, close to the GS office). There are a few spots still open … you’d be most welcome! (for more detail see attachment)

Scripture to Ponder & Prayer
Week of February 10

Scriptures for this week:

Jeremiah 17:5‒10; Psalm 1; 1 Corinthians 15:12‒20; Luke 6:17‒26

In today’s world, we’re constantly surrounded by voices trying to shape our hearts and minds—whether it’s politicians, the media, friends, family, or even our own desires. These voices pull us in many different directions, influencing our beliefs and actions. But all too often, they lead us away from what’s true. The deeper, more profound truth of God’s wisdom, which goes beyond our human understanding, can easily be drowned out by the noise of the world around us.

From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to bed, we’re bombarded by a world calling for our attention with promises of wealth, success, power, and short-term pleasures. These things aren’t necessarily bad, but when they become the loudest voices we hear, they begin to distort our sense of purpose. They cloud our view of the eternal truths God reveals to us through His Word. We can easily find ourselves chasing after the world’s voice, prioritizing temporary gains over the lasting wisdom of God that offers real fulfillment.

But God calls us to listen to a voice that, though often quieter, is infinitely more powerful. It’s that still, small voice that gently draws us toward His will, grounded in His eternal love, wisdom, and justice. When we tune in to God’s voice, we remember our true identity as His children—called to live with peace, mercy, love, and justice. In a world so in need of these qualities, we’re called not only to live according to God’s wisdom but to be witnesses of His light and truth.

Jeremiah 17:5-10 and Luke 6:17-26 offer profound insights on the choice we face: to trust in the fleeting promises of the world or to place our hope in God, whose ways are higher and whose love endures forever. When we choose to follow God’s voice, we rediscover who we’re meant to be—people who work to create a more just, loving, and peaceful world, rooted in the eternal truths of God’s Kingdom.

So, let’s ask ourselves: Whose voice are we really listening to? Are we letting the noise of the world shape our beliefs, or are we allowing God’s still, steady voice to guide our lives toward His greater purpose?

Let us pray:

God of wisdom,
In a world filled with many voices, help us listen for Yours.
Guide us away from the distractions of the world and toward Your eternal truth.
May we find our identity in You, living lives of peace, justice, and love.
Give us the strength to reflect Your light and to uplift others in Your name.
In your mighty name, we pray. Amen.
