Entering Holy Week  (This is also attached)
“A Time to Remember, Reflect, and Be Renewed ”
Dear Friends,
We are entering into Holy Week starting this Sunday—a sacred time in our Christian
journey. There are many stories to learn and experience, and many more to witness and
be amazed by.
This week, unlike others, I haven’t written a personal reflection. Instead, I invite you to
ponder, to sit with these powerful scriptures, and to let the Spirit stir your own
reflections. Holy Week calls us into deep places—of sorrow, sacrifice, love, and joy.
I encourage us all to take time to meditate on these scriptures. They carry us from the
Last Supper to the cross… and finally to the empty tomb. They hold the heart of our
faith and the hope of our redemption.
May grace meets you in the stillness, and may you walk this week closely with Christ.

——————————————————————————————————————-
Scripture to Ponder: Holy Week
Maundy Thursday – The Last Supper & The Command to Love
1 Corinthians 11:23–26 “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
John 13:1–17, 31b–35 “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.”
Good Friday – The Suffering Servant & The Crucified Christ
Isaiah 52:13—53:12 “He was despised and rejected… by his wounds we are healed.”
John 18:1—19:42 “It is finished.”
Psalm 22 (VU p. 743) “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Easter Sunday – The Empty Tomb & New Life in Christ
1 Corinthians 15:19–26 “In Christ all will be made alive.”
John 20:1–18 “I have seen the Lord!”

Prayer
God of Holy Week,
As we enter into these sacred days, open our hearts to Your story.
Let the weight of the cross remind us of love’s cost, And the
joy of the resurrection reminds us of love’s triumph.
Give us quiet moments to listen, to reflect, and to truly see.
Draw us closer to You and to one another. In Jesus name, Amen.

Recently,  the 100th Anniversary of the United Church of Canada committee unveiled its’ fundraising campaign to assist Damber and Sumi with their three nieces, Ameera, Anupaa, and Anuka who are in a refugee camp in Nepal. We invite you to give the gift of one dollar for every year the United Church of Canada has been in existence. We’d like to call it “A 100 for the 100th. Of course, we will accept any amount you feel you would like to give, be it less or more.

Here is how The DAMBER PROJECT will work:

· We will gladly accept cash or cheques. Cheques may be made out to “Trinity United Church” and should be designated to THE DAMBER PROJECT. Funds will be disbursed as needed, and at Damber’s discretion between now and the end of June.

· A member of the 100th Anniversary committee will be available before or after each service each Sunday morning from now until June.

· If you are dropping by Trinity during the week, you can leave your donation with Kathy in the office.

· If you’d like to leave your gift in the offering plate, please be sure to indicate that it is for THE DAMBER PROJECT, so that the cashiers will know.

Sunday, April 13, 2025Worship at 10:45 a.m. Palm Sunday

“The Power of Humility & Love”

Scriptures for this week:

Liturgy of the Palms: Psalm 118:1‒2, 19‒29 & Luke 19:28‒40

Liturgy of the Passion: Psalm 31:9‒16 & Luke 23:1‒49

Scriptures to Ponder: Psalm 118:1‒2, 19‒29 & Luke 19:28‒40

On Palm Sunday, we reflect on God’s divine intervention to reconcile humanity with Himself through Jesus. In the scriptures, particularly Psalm 118:22, we are reminded of the profound truth that “the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” This paradox speaks to the heart of God’s kingdom, where the world’s standards are upended. What the world deems unimportant—Jesus on a humble donkey—becomes the cornerstone of all creation and the foundation of our faith.

As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the crowds joyfully shout, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Luke 19:38). They lay palm branches before Him, a symbol of peace, victory, and kingship. But what they do not yet fully understand is that true victory will not be won through worldly power. Instead, it will be through Jesus’ sacrificial death, the ultimate act of love and redemption.

Jerusalem, the city long yearned for by God’s people, now welcomes its King—not on a mighty warhorse, but humbly riding a donkey. This moment is the beginning of a far greater journey toward the Cross. As He enters, Jesus sets the stage for the fulfillment of God’s plan: through His rejection, He will bring salvation to all.

Palm Sunday marks the start of something profound: Jesus’ sacrifice, which will become the cornerstone of hope for humanity. What appeared weak—the humble journey of Jesus—was, in truth, the foundation of our redemption.

As we reflect on this week of Passion, we are invited to ponder the meaning of His entry into Jerusalem. In His humility, we see the true nature of God’s love and the victory He achieved for us through the Cross.

Let’s pray together…

Lord Jesus,

We give You praise for Your humble and victorious entry into Jerusalem. Through Your journey, you show us that true greatness is found in love, humility, and sacrifice. You are the cornerstone of our faith and our hope.

As we walk through this holy week, grant us the strength to follow Your example of courage, compassion, and selflessness. Help us build our lives on Your truth and reflect Your love to those around us.

We thank You for Your ultimate sacrifice and the reconciliation You offer through the Cross.

In Your name, we pray. Amen.
