Scripture to Ponder & Prayer
Week of August 04, 2025

Readings: Hebrews 11:1–3, 8–16; Luke 12:32–40

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Heb. 11:1)

“Be dressed for action and have your lamps lit.” (Luke 12:35)

Hebrews reminds us that faith is not about certainty, but about trustful movement. Abraham set out not knowing where he was going. Sarah believed what seemed impossible. Their lives were anchored not in outcomes but in promise—glimpsed from afar, never fully grasped. They died still looking forward, confessing themselves as strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

This is the heart of discipleship: not possession, but pilgrimage. We are called not to arrive, but to follow; not to control, but to trust. In a world that prizes immediacy, Luke and Hebrews together call us to vigilance and hope—to be ready, to be dressed for action, even when we do not see clearly.

In this spirit, Micah’s ancient words still guide our path:
What does the Lord require of you?
To do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.

Let this be a week of spiritual renewal—not for certainty, but for communion. May we dare to trust the One who still leads us, even when the way is hidden.

Let us pray—

God of promise and pilgrimage,
You called Abraham to leave the known,
and Sarah to trust what she could not see.
Call us again—away from fear, toward faith.
Stretch our vision beyond the visible,
      our hope beyond the immediate,
and our courage beyond what feels possible.
Teach us to trust in Your unfolding grace,
to seek the city You are still building,
and to walk humbly in Your justice and love.
In the name of Christ,
our Companion on the way—Amen.

60th Anniversary Celebrations

During the 60th Anniversary of Trinity celebration, members of the congregation were invited to write their fond memories of Trinity.   Over 60 cards with memories were collected over the weeks of the celebration.  The committee has decided to share these memories in the announcements over the next 6 weeks.

Here is this week’s compilation of your treasured memories of Trinity:

* 1972 Sunday school story from Karen

* Our Daughters were married at Trinity

* First Baptism group in the new building — my daughter was in it

* Youth group dances – checking kids in at the door (there were some problems)

* Working with a variety of people on projects

* Currently a member of GSA but attended St, Norbert children in the nursery program

* Taught Sunday school at Trinity, but in the 80’s attended GSA — many fond memories

* I have fond memories of the UCW group, which in the 1980’s numbered 25+ members.  We met monthly for fellowship and did some fundraising

* One amazing fashion show in the lower hall decorated with silhouettes of flying geese in fall colors.  Was chaired by Pat Burke and was so much fun.  There were you mothers and Grandmas. Old and young made up a unique group.

* When we were using Dalhousie School for services, the choir practiced at the Director’s home (Roy Boyle).  One Thursday we had a blizzard and I cross country skied to his house.
