“The Power of Humility & Love”

Scriptures for this week:

Liturgy of the Palms: Psalm 118:1‒2, 19‒29 & Luke 19:28‒40

Liturgy of the Passion: Psalm 31:9‒16 & Luke 23:1‒49

Scriptures to Ponder: Psalm 118:1‒2, 19‒29 & Luke 19:28‒40

On Palm Sunday, we reflect on God’s divine intervention to reconcile humanity with Himself through Jesus. In the scriptures, particularly Psalm 118:22, we are reminded of the profound truth that “the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” This paradox speaks to the heart of God’s kingdom, where the world’s standards are upended. What the world deems unimportant—Jesus on a humble donkey—becomes the cornerstone of all creation and the foundation of our faith.

As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the crowds joyfully shout, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Luke 19:38). They lay palm branches before Him, a symbol of peace, victory, and kingship. But what they do not yet fully understand is that true victory will not be won through worldly power. Instead, it will be through Jesus’ sacrificial death, the ultimate act of love and redemption.

Jerusalem, the city long yearned for by God’s people, now welcomes its King—not on a mighty warhorse, but humbly riding a donkey. This moment is the beginning of a far greater journey toward the Cross. As He enters, Jesus sets the stage for the fulfillment of God’s plan: through His rejection, He will bring salvation to all.

Palm Sunday marks the start of something profound: Jesus’ sacrifice, which will become the cornerstone of hope for humanity. What appeared weak—the humble journey of Jesus—was, in truth, the foundation of our redemption.

As we reflect on this week of Passion, we are invited to ponder the meaning of His entry into Jerusalem. In His humility, we see the true nature of God’s love and the victory He achieved for us through the Cross.

Let’s pray together…

Lord Jesus,

We give You praise for Your humble and victorious entry into Jerusalem. Through Your journey, you show us that true greatness is found in love, humility, and sacrifice. You are the cornerstone of our faith and our hope.

As we walk through this holy week, grant us the strength to follow Your example of courage, compassion, and selflessness. Help us build our lives on Your truth and reflect Your love to those around us.

We thank You for Your ultimate sacrifice and the reconciliation You offer through the Cross.

In Your name, we pray. Amen.
