Scripture to Ponder & Prayer
Week of February 24, 2025
Scriptures for this week:
Exodus 34:29–35, Psalm 99 (VU p. 819), 2 Corinthians 3:12—4:2, Luke 9:28–36, (37–43)
Scripture to Ponder: Exodus 34:29–35 & Luke 9:28–36, (37–43)
The Transfiguration reminds us of the powerful, transformative moments where we feel God’s presence, as seen in Jesus’ glory on the mountaintop. Yet, the story also moves quickly to the valley, where Jesus faces frustration and a desperate father seeking help for his son. This shift shows us that spiritual heights and earthly struggles are both part of life. Today, we live in a world full of challenges—sickness, division, and uncertainty—but we also experience moments of deep connection with God. Both are part of our journey.
Question to ponder:
How do we bring the power of our mountaintop experiences into the messy realities of everyday life?
Prayer:
Ever-loving God. We thank You for the moments of transformation, when Your presence fills us with light and clarity, just as You revealed Your glory on the mountaintop. In those times, we feel Your affirmation and Your love, and we are renewed. Yet, we know that life is also full of valleys—times of struggle, frustration, and pain. Like Jesus, we often face the brokenness of the world and feel weary.
Help us to hold both the mountaintop and the valley in our hearts, trusting that You are with us in both places. May the power of our mountaintop experiences sustain us in the valleys, and may we bring Your light into every moment, no matter how difficult.
Give us strength to face the challenges ahead, and grace to see Your presence amid them. In all things, may we remain rooted in Your love and purpose.
Amen.
