Scripture to Ponder & Prayer
Dec 30, 2024
Welcome to the New Year 2025!
As we step into this new year, may we embrace the light of Christ and carry it with us through every day. The beginning of a new year is a time for reflection, renewal, and anticipation of the ways in which God will continue to work in our lives. Let’s begin this journey with hearts open to Divine guidance and light of Christ.
Scriptures for the Week: Jeremiah 31:7–14; Psalm 147:12–20; Ephesians 1:3–14; John 1:(1–9), 10–18
In this first week of the new year, the scriptures invite us to hold on to the light of Christ, no matter what lies ahead. Each passage offers hope and assurance, reminding us that God’s light will guide and sustain us through every season.
John 1:10–18 tells us that Christ is the true Light, the one who gives life to all people. Though the world may try to push aside this light, it cannot be overcome. In Christ, we find grace, truth, and the fullness of God’s love.
Additionally, John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, was known for his commitment to bringing light into the world through action. He said, “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” Wesley’s words remind us that our role as bearers of light is practical and lived out in the small, everyday choices we make.
As we begin this new year, we are reminded that the light of Christ is always with us. It is a light that we can hold on to, no matter the circumstances. It is a light that shines in us and through us, bringing hope to a dark world.
Let us pray
Loving God, as we begin 2025, we thank You for the gift of Your light, which guides us through every season of life. Help us to hold on to Your light this year, trusting that You will lead us, heal us, and sustain us in all that we face.
May Your light shine brightly in us, filling us with peace, joy, and courage. As we walk through this year, help us to reflect Your love to everyone we meet, sharing Your grace and truth wherever we go.
Thank You for the blessings of the past year and for the hope You give for the year ahead. We trust in Your unfailing love and the power of Your light to guide us each day.
In Your holy name, Amen.
“Happy New Year”
