TUC Announcements May 23, 2024

At the request of the Search Committee, a meeting of the community of faith of Trinity United Church in Winnipeg will be called for Sunday, June 2, 2024 at 12:15 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to receive the recommendation of the Search Team of a Ministry Personnel for a Call to fill the fulltime ministry position at Trinity United Church. The meeting will be in person and will also be available on Zoom. Please email tuc@mymts.net or call the church 204-269-1632 if you would like the Zoom link. 

We hold in prayer Barb Cahoon and Scott McTavish, Brenden and Myles McTavish and Pat Cahoon as they mourn the death of their son, brother and grandson Alex McTavish. A celebration of life will be held at Trinity at 2:00 p.m. on May 25.

On Sunday, May 26, Reverend Peter Denton will lead worship. 

We are grateful to Ed and Isabel Tymofichuk and Ken and Elaine Johnson for cashiering this Sunday.

From Fellowship:

1. There will NOT be coffee and cookies this Sunday as previously scheduled.  Sorry for any inconvenience/disappointment.

2. Reminder:  Please sign up for the church picnic by June 2 or it will be cancelled.

Cello Recital: You are welcome to attend the graduation recital for Gabriella Oliveira (in collaboration with Hector Pinzon, piano and Yufei Lui, violin) on Saturday May 25 at 4 PM, 65 Dafoe Rd., Clare Hall. Free admission.

From Good Shepherd Anglican: Good Shepherd is hosting a special coffee & fellowship for Jennifer on Sunday morning at 10-ish in our Chapel Room to say bon voyage as she embarks on a 2-month sabbatical followed by a 4-week vacation; she’ll return to us in September. If any of the Trinity folks want to join they’d be most welcome!

Date for Spring clean up from the Property Committee: Spring is in the air and we always welcome Spring by cleaning inside and outside the church so we make the building and grounds sparkle. The new date is Saturday June 1 at 9:00 a.m. If enough folks show up we should be done by noon. Bring work gloves, rags and a small plastic pail (church has a supply of cleaning products). Coffee and donuts will be supplied. See you there! Thank you, Ed

From Prairie to Pine Region: It is Trinity Sunday on May 26.

We hold in prayer community members and families as we mourn Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe and all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

At the congregational meeting on January 17, 2024, the Profile report was accepted, the Profile Team was disbanded, and the Search Team (for the new minister) was appointed as follows: Kyle Chorney, Leslie Kirby, Gerta de Jong (liaison with Prairie to Pine region), Ken Johnson, Angela Rosales, Debbie Spindler, Barbara Tallman.  If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to be in touch with members of the Search Team. 

Bomber Fundraiser: Thank you to all who have already signed up to work at one or more games this season! We have a great start with many of you signing up to work.  Sign up sheets are posted in the narthex. Please check your calendars and sign up for the games you are able to work or call or email Irma and/or Marilyn. We still need volunteers for July 12, 5:30 pm.; August 1, 5:30 pm; August 23, 5:30pm.; September 7, noon or earlier; September 27, 5:00pm; October 11, 5:30 pm. 

Programs at Trinity:

Trinity Walkers:  From Maryann: Hello Fellow Walkers. Where do you like to walk? Phone me and let’s arrange a time and place so that we can walk together…Together is better.

The following programs are taking a break: 

Trinity Yoga: Saturdays at 10;00 a.m. is taking a break. Watch for new dates in mid June  

Bible Study:  is taking a break until the fall.

South Side Community Fitness and Fellowship: is taking a break until the fall.  

Needs at Trinity: There are many volunteer opportunities in the ministry at Trinity. If you are able to offer the gift of time to give please let us know. There are opportunities, to serve on committees, to help with one time special events, help serve at funeral lunches and fellowship coffee, to help with technology, read scripture, offer prayers, sing in the choir, to join the worship team that provides services at St. Norbert PCH and The Waverley, work at a bombers, help with Sunday School and Youth, etc. Please prayerfully consider these opportunities and be in touch with the office (204 269 1632 tuc@mymts.net) We are grateful for every gift given and appreciate all you do for Trinity.
