We are asking members of the Trinity United Church to consider the opportunity to be on the Search team. The Search Team will be responsible for reviewing applicants and interviewing for the position of Minister. The Board asks you to think about this over the advent season. If you have questions as you ponder this, do not hesitate to reach out and ask questions to Barbara Tallman or Terry DeLong (contacts below). A deadline of January 8th has been set to receive the names of those interested in being on the Search Team. Search Team members are required to attend a mandatory education session via Zoom on January 13, 2023, from 830 am to 1230 pm. Search Team members are approved at a congregational meeting. The expected date of this congregational meeting is January 17, 2023. More information on the congregational meeting is forthcoming.

A message from the Worship Committee: Beginning in January, Trinity United Church will be in a time of transition as we search for our new minister. Our community will continue to meet on Sunday at 10:45 a.m. The Worship Committee is arranging guest speakers and services. Please watch the Thursday email announcements for details. We plan to record services on Sunday and send the link early the following week. If you have worship or guest speaker ideas – please pass them along to the Worship Committee. We look forward to worshipping and learning together during this transition.

Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for a Happy 2024 to our Trinity Staff. One of Trinity’s traditions over the years has been to recognize our much-appreciated staff members during the Christmas season. On behalf of our congregation, Ministry and Personnel Committee members present Christmas greeting cards and Gift Cards at this time to Elizabeth, Irma, Héctor, Tierney, Samantha and Kathy. The Property Committee is pleased to announce that this week Trinity United received a grant of $45,000 from the Sir Thomas Cropo Foundation Inc to help with the washroom renovation project! This adds to the $60,000 from Winnipeg Foundation received earlier this year and the $50,000 received from the City of Winnipeg by RKNS means we are well on our way to securing funding for this important renovation. Outreach projects for Christmas: thank you to all who donated items for local organizations! 12 bags of items went to the Miracle Store; more than 2 very full boxes of food items went to local schools for their hampers; a full box of warm socks and underwear went to Velma’s house; and 41 pairs of mittens, 16 neck warmers and 54 hats went to Dalhousie and Prairie Sunrise schools! Plus a full cart of groceries and items went to West Broadway! God’s love spread all over!

Upon hearing the preliminary research findings on deaths and unmarked graves at the Alberni residential institution, The United Church of Canada, both regionally and nationally, hears the Tseshaht First Nation’s specific Calls for Truth and Justice directed to us, and commits to continued conversation with them about specific actions in response. Every Child Matters.

Trinity Walkers: Advent is here, the weather has changed and our lives are busy. Even so I enjoy walking with you. Please phone me and let’s arrange a time and place. If you are hesitant about walking outdoors then how about walking a loop in Ikea and then stopping for a coffee. If Tuesdays don’t work let’s try another day
Trinity Yoga: Saturdays at 10-11am Yoga; 11-noon coffee and fellowship; online by zoom – resumes in January
