Moment for October 31, 2023

Here is the link for the moment: https://youtu.be/43LGecDXHeM

This Sunday, November 5th, recorded and in person worship, we mark Remembrance Sunday and celebrate communion.

Sermon by phone: 204 410 1384

Congregational meeting has been called for Trinity United Church on Sunday November 5th, immediately following worship to review and approve Trinity’s “Structure and Governance and Policy and Procedures Manual”. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. This is the first notice of the meeting.

A new policy document has been developed for Trinity.  The document is entitled “Structure and Governance & Policies and Procedures” and has been developed in response to the need for revision and updating of the old policy document that was last reviewed in 2014.  The new document has been approved by the Trinity Board, but must also be approved by the congregation and, after that, the Regional Council.

You will be receiving an e-mail on Wednesday that will include a copy of the new document, some guidelines to help you review the content of the document, and a general agenda for the congregational meeting on November 5th following worship.  Your opinions and advice are crucial to this process, so please try to attend the meeting on November 5th. Refreshments will be served.

Thank you from the Ad Hoc Policies and Procedures Review Committee

Sunday November 12th – Sunday School Sunday at 10:45am in the lower hall!

Thanks to everyone who brought a book, or bought a book, or stopped to talk about what they’d read, what they were going to read, and what they would NEVER read.  We raised over $200 and had some great conversations!

Upon hearing the preliminary research findings on deaths and unmarked graves at the Alberni residential institution, The United Church of Canada, both regionally and nationally, hears the Tseshaht First Nation’s specific Calls for Truth and Justice directed to us, and commits to continued conversation with them about specific actions in response. Every Child Matters.

Scripture to ponder: Psalm 90:1 – God, it seems you’ve been our home forever; long before the mountains were born, Long before you brought earth itself to birth, from “once upon a time” to “kingdom come”—you are God.

Prayer: Holy one, We are each called to lead and serve with the gifts we have been given. Grant that we might do it with authenticity and honesty, so that the glory is yours O God.  Amen
