Congregational meeting has been called for Trinity United Church on Sunday November 5th, immediately following worship to review and approve Trinity’s “Structure and Governance and Policy and Procedures Manual”. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. This is the first notice of the meeting.

A new policy document has been developed for Trinity.  The document is entitled “Structure and Governance & Policies and Procedures” and has been developed in response to the need for revision and updating of the old policy document that was last reviewed in 2014.  The new document has been approved by the Trinity Board, but must also be approved by the congregation and, after that, the Regional Council.

You will have received an e-mail shortly that will include a copy of the new document, some guidelines to help you review the content of the document, and a general agenda for the congregational meeting onNovember 5th following worship.  Your opinions and advice are crucial to this process, so please try to attend the meeting on November 5th. Refreshments will be served.

Thank you from the Ad Hoc Policies and Procedures Review Committee

A message from the Board: As we move into the fall, the board is grateful for all gifts given. At the annual meeting, Trinity committed to keep you informed of our financial situation throughout the year. Here is the update for the end of August:

Jan to August Income: $138,880.67

Jan to August Expenses: $165,961.65

Jan to August Deficit: ($27,080.98)

This Year-to-date deficit is higher than the budgeted Year-to-date deficit (which was around -$20k), but there is still Bomber money to be received, and givings tend to increase as we move into the Christmas season.  We continue to be vigilant in keeping expenses in check, and we believe that Trinity is financially viable in the short to medium term.  However, there is a slow downward trend of givings which will need to be addressed longer term, either through increased fundraising or increased givings.

We are grateful to the Bombers for dropping off this great gift for Irma this week! (see attachment) She was thrilled and appreciates all the prayers that surround her as she recovers from surgery.

SAVE THE DATE! Saturday November 25th, 7pm – Praise and Worship Service at Trinity!

Upon hearing the preliminary research findings on deaths and unmarked graves at the Alberni residential institution, The United Church of Canada, both regionally and nationally, hears the Tseshaht First Nation’s specific Calls for Truth and Justice directed to us, and commits to continued conversation with them about specific actions in response. Every Child Matters.
