Worship for Sunday September 24, 2023

Here is the link for the online worship for Sunday September 24th: https://youtu.be/465_R_ctzx4

Sunday September 24th – 10:45am – Orange Shirt Sunday – wear an orange shirt or something orange as we move towards National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th as we think about Orange Shirt Day. On September 30, people all across Canada will wear orange shirts to remember and honour Indigenous children who were taken from their communities and families to residential institutions. This year, Indigenous communities across the country continue to share the truth they have always known: that many of the children who never returned home remain on the grounds of those institutions in unmarked burial sites. These communities are now seeking to honour the missing children.

On Orange Shirt Day we also observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. For non-Indigenous Christians in particular, this is a time to reflect on their role in colonialism and the ongoing responsibility to make reparations.

Opportunities to learn more:

  • watch or stream “Bones of Crows” on CBC
  • watch or stream “Indspire Awards” for stories of amazing Indigenous people
  • read about Phyllis Jack Webstad whose story inspired this day

Photo directory:
Have you heard an announcement regarding someone from Trinity or Good Shepherd congregations and can’t put a face to the name?

We are having Canada Photo Services produce a pictorial directory in order to help us re-acquaint ourselves with one another and strengthen the bond of our faith communities.

Portraits will be taken October 4, 5, 6, & 7th here at the church.  You will be able to view the portrait at the same time.  Everyone will receive a free directory for participating and have an opportunity to purchase a studio quality portrait if you wish but there is no obligation to purchase.

You can sign up for an appointment before and after services on Sunday, Sept. 24th or give Kathy a call in the office (204 269-1632).

Our directory will not be complete without You.

Soup Fundraiser is back! the list of soups is attached and orders can be placed before and after church Sunday Sept 24. Soups can be dropped off between 9-9:30am and paid for and picked up between 11am to 1pm on Saturday September 30th at Trinity. Thank you!

Bomber fund raiser: thank you to all the folks who volunteered for the games! We have all games filled! If you’d like to volunteer and are not sure what it entails, be in touch with Marilyn or Irma or Elizabeth and we’ll arrange for you to “shadow” someone for part of any of the next 2 games. As an added incentive, we’ll offer you access to the stadium for part of the game!

We are grateful to Ruth and Arnold Graham and Edgar Rosales for cashiering this Sunday.

We need two more cashiers to fill our roster. We’ll provide training and you’ll be doing this with an experienced person. Please be in touch with Gerta if you’d like to help out. Thank you!
