Moment for September 19 2023

Here is the link for the moment: https://youtu.be/DrQCE-q5oyE

This Sunday, September 24th – 10:45am – Orange Shirt Sunday – please wear orange this Sunday and on September 30th as we think about Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

On September 30, people all across Canada will wear orange shirts to remember and honour Indigenous children who were taken from their communities and families to residential institutions. This year, Indigenous communities across the country continue to share the truth they have always known: that many of the children who never returned home remain on the grounds of those institutions in unmarked burial sites. These communities are now seeking to honour the missing children.

On Orange Shirt Day we also observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. For non-Indigenous Christians in particular, this is a time to reflect on their role in colonialism and the ongoing responsibility to make reparations.

“The Ministry and Personnel Committee would like to extend congratulations to Trinity’s caretaker, Samantha Nedokus.  She is an avid soccer player and has been invited by the Manitoba Women’s team, the FC Northwest Starz of Winnipeg, to play at the Canadian Nationals.  Ten teams will compete at Canada Soccer’s 2023 Toyota National Championships for the Jubilee Trophy in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  They will play 25 matches from 4 to 9 October 2023.  Samantha’s games are on Oct. 4, 6, 7 and 8th with the finals taking place on the 9th.  She is excited to serve as the Starz starting goal keeper.  Below is a link to the web site if you would like more information.”  https://canadasoccer.com/news/jubilee-trophy-teams-and-schedule-for-the-2023-toyota-national-championships/

Photo directory:
Have you heard an announcement regarding someone from Trinity or Good Shepherd congregations and can’t put a face to the name?

We are having Canada Photo Services produce a pictorial directory in order to help us re-acquaint ourselves with one another and strengthen the bond of our faith communities.

Portraits will be taken October 4, 5, 6, & 7th here at the church.  You will be able to view the portrait at the same time.  Everyone will receive a free directory for participating and have an opportunity to purchase a studio quality portrait if you wish but there is no obligation to purchase.

You can sign up for an appointment before and after services on Sunday, Sept. 24th or give Kathy a call in the office (204 269-1632).

Our directory will not be complete without You.

Soup Fundraiser is back! the list of soup ingredients is attached and orders can be placed before and after church Sept 24. Soups will be dropped off 9-9:30am and picked up 11-1pm on Saturday September 30th at Trinity. Thank you!

Bomber fund raiser: thank you to all the folks who volunteered for the games! We have all games filled! If you’d like to volunteer and are not sure what it entails, be in touch with Marilyn or Irma or Elizabeth and we’ll arrange for you to “shadow” someone for part of any of the next 2 games. As an added incentive, we’ll offer you access to the stadium for part of the game!

We are grateful to Ruth and Arnold Graham and Edgar Rosales  for cashiering this Sunday.

We need two more cashiers to fill our roster. We’ll provide training and you’ll be doing this with an experienced person. Please be in touch with Gerta if you’d like to help out. Thank you!

Scripture for this week: Exodus 16:2-15; Psalm 105:1-6m 37-45; Philippians 1:21-30; Matthew 20:1-16

Scripture to ponder:
Philippians 2:3-4: Don’t do anything from selfish ambition or from a cheap desire to boast, but be humble toward one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another’s interests, not just for your own.

Prayer: Holy God, let your spirit flow through us, restore our awe, remind us of the power of your love. May your spirit inspire us to move and heal and dance with all Creation.  Amen
