Moment for Tuesday July11, 2023

Here is the link for the moment for this week: https://youtu.be/G4kmGVohfUE

In person summer worship services are at 9:30am. We welcome Good Shepherd Anglican folks to worship led by Elizabeth. Recorded online worship will be sent out on Thursday. Sermon by phone is available on Thursday.

The family of Norma Daly is celebrating her life on Saturday July 22nd at 1:30pm at Trinity. Everyone is invited to come and share memories and be with family and friends at this celebration.

Because of Elizabeth’s notice of retirement, Trinity will begin the process of searching for a new minister. The first step is to determine the ministry needs and position description and create profiles of our church, community and finances. We need 3-5 people who would be willing to serve as our Profile team. Here is a link to the handbook for this step in the process: Pastoral Relations: Guidelines for a Community of Faith Profile (united-church.ca) which will give good, comprehensive information for people interested in being a part of this step in the process. The board has asked that folks prayerfully discern if you would like to do this. Please be in touch with Barb Tallman (chair of the board) barbara1tallman@gmail.com and Karen Wall (secretary of the board) kwall@mymts.net  by July 10th if you feel called to participate. Training and assistance from the Region is provided for all steps in this process.

The board offers this financial update:

Jan to May     Income $84,754.03              Expenses: $102,608.89  =  deficit ($17,854.86)

The board offers a friendly reminder that although we may be on holidays, the church continues to pay its bills during the summer months. We hope that people remember to submit their givings in person, by mail, by dropping it off at the church in the mailbox, or by signing up with PAR to have your donations come directly from your bank account. Please be in touch with the office if you have any questions. Thank you for offering your gifts to the mission and ministry of Trinity United Church.

Bomber fund raiser: We still need volunteers for the upcoming games: August 3 and 24; September 9 and 29 and October 21. If you are able to help, it will be greatly appreciated. We provide all the training and assistance. Please contact Marilyn or Irma or sign up on the signup sheets in the narthex.

We hold in prayer Ethel and their family on the death of Paul Campbell.
We hold in prayer the family and friends of Shaheeda Koning including her dear friend Suni, as we mourn her death.

From The United Church of Canada:

With the community of Dauphin, we grieve the loss and trauma of the June 15 bus crash that took the lives of at least 15 people and left many injured, and so many grieving. Our hearts break, and God’s heart breaks. Please pray for the loved ones of the victims, survivors, first responders and medical staff, the communities of Dauphin and Carberry and area, and all affected by this horrible accident. May God bless those whose lives have been lost, and may God’s love hold close all who are grieving. May we all be living expressions of God’s love in this time of grief.

We hold in prayer Susan and Doug Delaney’s family members Darryl and Diane Knight as they move through health struggles. They are grateful for all our prayers.

We hold in prayer community members and families as we mourn Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe and all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

We hold in prayer Lorraine Antosh as she is in hospital.

Upon hearing the preliminary research findings on deaths and unmarked graves at the Alberni residential institution, The United Church of Canada, both regionally and nationally, hears the Tseshaht First Nation’s specific Calls for Truth and Justice directed to us, and commits to continued conversation with them about specific actions in response. Every Child Matters.

We are grateful to Ed and Leslie Johnson and Judy and Charlie Powell for cashiering this Sunday.
