Worship for Sunday May 28, 2023

We celebrate the life of Geraldine Irvine on Saturday May 27, 2023 at 10:30am at Trinity. We hold her family in our prayers.

This is the last week to fill out the survey about our online and in person presence. We invite you to share this link with everyone who calls Trinity their church home.  https://forms.gle/Ji1gTFkaFSmcznv46  Thanks for letting us know about your feelings, ideas, practice and dreams.

We are looking for 3 more volunteers to set up, serve, and clean up lunch for the Region annual meeting at United Church in Meadowood (1111 Dakota) on Friday and Saturday (June 2,3) from 11:30am to 1pm. Please contact Elizabeth if you can help out.

This Sunday May 28th – Reconnect before the summer Sunday! Everyone is invited to come on this Pentecost Sunday, wear red if you have it, and enjoy a fun, spirit filled worship celebrating the spirit of Pentecost! Play “Pin the flame on the disciple”! Hear amazing fire and brimstone story telling and then see the pulpit burning with the spirit’s flame! Create your own flame to bring home! Create your Pentecost spirit from playdoh! Make a prayer pinwheel to take home! Enjoy refreshments after the service! And lots more! Tell your friends about this wonderful event! We have all the “bits” to do everything and need a few people to help folks create wonderful Pentecost items to take home. Please be in touch if you can help out.

Prairie to Pine Region Annual meeting June 1-4, 2023 at United Church in Meadowood with the Moderator Rt. Rev. Carmen Landsdown preaching. The board has decided to close Trinity on Sunday June 4th and invite everyone to

watch the live streamed Celebration of Ministry service at 10:30am (https://www.youtube.com/@prairietopineregionalcounc1164);

or watch the recording of the service later in the day and sent out by email;

or attend the service at United Church in Meadowood (1111 Dakota St.) at 10:30am;

or attend the Pride Parade as part of the United Church delegation:  We registered “The United Church of Canada” as a group to walk in Winnipeg’s 2023 parade.  All United churches are welcome.  We will bring the region’s United Church banner to lead the group, but other banners/signs are welcome. Wearing bright colours is encouraged. We’ll meet at Memorial Park opposite the Manitoba Legislative Building at the corner of Broadway and Memorial Boulevard at 10:30am and make our way through downtown Winnipeg to the Forks. Look for the United Church of Canada banner!

Pat Chabluk, our former Youth Worker and Administrative Assistant, will be commissioned on Sunday June 4th at the 10:30am service.

The area at the back of church has been set up by the Christian Education committee for families to use! There are soft toys, couches, building blocks, and books for our younger folks!

Have you ever wondered what happens during the recording of our services? Are you wanting to attend in person worship but Sunday mornings just don’t work for your schedule? Worship committee invites you to come on Wednesday mornings at 9am to attend the recording of the upcoming Sunday. Both the recording and in person services are generally the same and you’ll add to our recorded worship experience. If you have questions, please be in touch with Elizabeth; if you’d like to come, you can just show up by 9am on any Wednesday morning!

We hold in prayer Nimota and her family on the death of her husband Luqman last month.

We hold in prayer Irma’s sister Mary as she heals.

We hold in prayer Susan and Doug Delaney’s family members Darryl and Diane Knight as they move through health struggles. They are grateful for all our prayers.

We hold in prayer community members and families as we mourn Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe and all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

We hold in prayer those who have been devastated by Hurricane Fiona, including the people in the Maritimes.

We hold in prayer Lorraine Antosh as she is in hospital.

We continue to hold the people of James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon, Saskatchewan in our prayers.

Upon hearing the preliminary research findings on deaths and unmarked graves at the Alberni residential institution, The United Church of Canada, both regionally and nationally, hears the Tseshaht First Nation’s specific Calls for Truth and Justice directed to us, and commits to continued conversation with them about specific actions in response. Every Child Matters.

A massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Türkiye and neighbouring Syria in February. Thanks to the generosity of United Church of Canada donors, we have been able to raise over $182,000 to provide support to our partners who are supporting the people of northern Syria and Türkiye.

We are grateful to Ed and Leslie Johnson and Judy and Charles Powell for cashiering this Sunday.
