Moment for Tuesday April 18, 2023

Here is the link for the moment: https://youtu.be/SWzqkt7WCbE

Have you ever wondered what happens during the recording of our services? Are you wanting to attend in person worship but Sunday mornings just don’t work for your schedule? Worship committee invites you to come on Wednesday mornings at 9am to attend the recording of the upcoming Sunday. Both the recording and in person services are generally the same and you’ll add to our recorded worship experience. If you have questions, please be in touch with Elizabeth; if you’d like to come, you can just show up by 9am on any Wednesday morning!

Upon hearing the preliminary research findings on deaths and unmarked graves at the Alberni residential institution, The United Church of Canada, both regionally and nationally, hears the Tseshaht First Nation’s specific Calls for Truth and Justice directed to us, and commits to continued conversation with them about specific actions in response. Every Child Matters.

A massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Türkiye and neighbouring Syria in February. Thanks to the generosity of United Church of Canada donors, we have been able to raise over $182,000 to provide support to our partners who are supporting the people of northern Syria and Türkiye.

We hold in prayer Susan and Doug Delaney’s family members Darryl and Diane Knight as they move through health struggles.

We hold in prayer Irma’s sister Mary on her healing journey.

We hold in prayer community members and families as we mourn Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe and all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

We hold in prayer Lorraine Antosh as she is in hospital.

We are grateful to Barb Postie, Doug Proch and Maryann Koop for cashiering this Sunday.

Scriptures for Sunday: Acts 2:14a, 36-41; Psalm 116:1-4. 12-19; 1 Peter 1:17-23; Luke 24:13-35

Scripture to ponder: Psalm 16:7-9: The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake is confirmed by my sleeping heart. Day and night I’ll stick with God; I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go. I’m happy from the inside out, and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed.

PrayerEver-present God, open  our hearts and minds that we might feel your presence and go out and witness to the grace and hope that comes from knowing you. Amen
