On Monday, February 6, a massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Turkey and neighbouring Syria. The United Church of Canada is deeply concerned for all those affected, particularly the thousands who have lost their homes and their lives. The United Church is in contact with partners in the region to learn more about the impact and understand how best to offer our support. Please include the people of Turkey, Syria, and other countries affected in your prayers, and consider making a donation to the emergency relief fund.
God, In the face of destruction that tears down homes and threatens life, we pray that your deep abiding love be felt by: those who are grieving, those who fear for themselves and their communities, those who are struggling; and, those who are offering aid. May they continue to be strengthened by your Spirit. May we extend our hearts in prayer. Amen

We hold in prayer the folks who are part of the Caring Connections ministry at Trinity – both those that connect in creative ways and those who are connected because of them.

We hold in prayer the family of Velma Motherall who died February 10th; a private family internment has been held and a service will be held in Manitou on July 16 which would have been her 100th birthday.

We hold in prayer Ruth and Arnold Graham and their family as they walk with Ruth’s mom while in the hospital on her journey to be with God.

We hold in prayer community members and families as we mourn Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe and all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

We hold in prayer those who have been devastated by Hurricane Fiona, including the people in the Maritimes.

We hold in prayer Lorraine Antosh as she is in hospital.

We continue to hold the people of James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon, Saskatchewan in our prayers.

Wednesday February 22, Good Shepherd and Epiphany Lutheran Churches will mark Ash Wednesday in person at Trinity and online. We are welcome to in person-Zoom at 7:00pm (please contact Trinity office for Zoom invite). Imposition of ashes will be offered in person. Holy Communion will also be celebrated; you may prepare a table at home with bread and juice/wine (& candle) to share meal online, if desired.

The Stewardship Committee reminds you that the office has sent out the tax receipts; if you’d like a copy mailed to you, please contact the office.

We are grateful to Glen and Sandi Fitzmaurice and Terry and Nancy DeLong for cashiering this Sunday.

Scriptures for Sunday; Genesis 2:15-17, 3:1-7; Psalm 32; Romans 5:12-19; Matthew 4:1-11

Scripture to ponder: Proverbs 7:10 – One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

PrayerGod as we journey into Lent, it is good to know we are not alone, that temptation does not have to win, and that God is with us on the journey. Amen
