Moment for Tuesday February 14, 2023

Here is the link for the moment: https://youtu.be/bwtIHFuv8fw

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Syrian family; your generosity is overwhelming! Beth tells us how she was able to help on behalf of Trinity.

As people of heart and spirit, go boldly into the new week, fully expecting opportunities for greater love to be placed squarely in your path. Pray often. Speak wisely. Act justly. Breathe and feel deeply. May the wisdom of Christ, the yearnings of God, and the friendship of the Spirit, inspire and uphold you, this day and always. Amen.

On Monday, February 6, a massive magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Turkey and neighbouring Syria. The United Church of Canada is deeply concerned for all those affected, particularly the thousands who have lost their homes and their lives. The United Church is in contact with partners in the region to learn more about the impact and understand how best to offer our support. Please include the people of Turkey, Syria, and other countries affected in your prayers, and consider making a donation to the emergency relief fund.
God, In the face of destruction that tears down homes and threatens life, we pray that your deep abiding love be felt by: those who are grieving, those who fear for themselves and their communities, those who are struggling; and, those wo are offering aid. May they continue to be strengthened by your Spirit. May we extend our hearts in prayer. Amen

We hold in prayer Ruth and Arnold Graham and their family as they walk with Ruth’s mom while in the hospital on her journey to be with God.

We hold in prayer community members and families as we mourn Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe and all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

We hold in prayer those who have been devastated by Hurricane Fiona, including the people in the Maritimes.

We hold in prayer Lorraine Antosh as she is in hospital.

We continue to hold the people of James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon, Saskatchewan in our prayers.
