As you have read in the weekly bulletin, Gerta de Jong is stepping down from her role as bookkeeper for Trinity United Church after many years of dedicated service. Bookkeeping is a critical role in the ongoing operation of the church, and we need to ensure there is someone available to fill Gerta’s shoes. The role does not require formal accounting training – it simply requires someone with a good head on their shoulders who has some basic numerical and computer skills (training will be provided!). The time commitment is typically in the range of 5 hours per week, but is very flexible as to when these hours are spent.
As you are also aware, Trinity finds itself in a difficult financial position this year. If we are unable to find a volunteer to take on the bookkeeper role, it will be necessary to pay someone to perform this function. Our rough estimate is that this will cost the church around $5000 per year. Again, as noted, we can not operate without these functions being performed.
Therefore, we are hopeful that someone from the Trinity membership will be able to kindly volunteer their time for this important role. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the responsibilities, skills required, and training / shadowing that will be provided. Please contact the Trinity office at tuc@mymts.net or 204 269 1632 if you are able to assist or need more information.
