As Christmas and the holidays approach, Christians experience the season of Advent as a time of expectant waiting and preparation. This year, four Canadian national church leaders, including United Church of Canada Moderator Carmen Lansdowne, will present a special series of Advent meditations and conversations that answer the question: “What Are We Waiting For?” Watch the first of the meditations at https://youtu.be/hc7vS4pA0xg
On Thursdays at 7 pm during Advent starting December 1st, join the national church leaders on Zoom. To register to receive updates and the link to the conversation on Zoom, visit Ecumenical Advent Series: What Are We Waiting For? | The United Church of Canada (united-church.ca)

Please consider a “Christmas gift” to Trinity this year.
CHRISTMAS STARS CAMPAIGN
After a two-year COVID hiatus, Trinity is re-instituting its Christmas Stars Campaign. As you will recall, the campaign involves the “purchase” of a star containing a message from you in honour of the Christmas season. The stars are commonly chosen to remember a loved one who has passed away, to celebrate an achievement, to honour an event, anniversary and the like. There is no set purchase price. The amount of your donation for a star is your personal choice. The stars will be hung in the church over the Christmas season for all to see. You can get a star in the following two ways:
1. Karen Wall will be in the narthex of the church before and after services on December 4th and December 11th to receive your star request and donation.
If you are unable to attend any of those services and wish to get a star, please e-mail Karen Wall at: kwall@mymts.net or call her on her cell phone at: 204-797-1732 or her land line at: 204-269-5550 and she will make the arrangements with you.
Trinity’s Outreach Christmas Projects for 2022
It is that time of year once again that we ask our generous congregation to support our local community during the Christmas season. The needs right in our community are great and we can show our love and caring by supporting Dalhousie School in their projects. Of course, we will have our Mitten Tree available in the narthex during Advent for hats and mittens that will be donated to local schools.
Miracle Store at Dalhousie School – Each child has the opportunity to “shop” for 2 gifts of their choice for a parent, sibling or grandparent. There are over 550 students in the school so that means over 1000 gifts!! To make this a success, we are asking for your donations of small gift items (lotion, candles, socks, jewelry, toys, mugs, men’s gifts, decorations, etc) and gift bags (any size and description) and tissue paper. If you are interested in volunteering during the week of Dec. 12 – 16 to help the children select their gifts for their families, please contact Beth Anderson at 204-275-5829 to set up a suitable time.
Family Hampers – Dalhousie school is preparing hampers for 25 needy families. We are asking you to offer your support by donating non- perishable food items. Suggestions include: rice, lentils, pasta and sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables (beans, tomatoes, chickpeas), peanut butter, juices, soups (vegetable, lentil, no meat), tuna, coffee, tea, cereal, pancake mix and syrup. Personal items such as shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes are also welcome additions to the hampers. Cash donations are welcome and will be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
Thank you for your support. Please have all donations into the church by December 6.
Christmas eve: we are planning an online and in person worship for Saturday December 24th and looking for folks to take part. Are you feeling like Mary or Joseph this year? Is your inner shepherd or wise one itching to burst forth in worship? Is there an angel anywhere in the Trinity congregation? Would you like to light the Christ candle with your family this year? Each part requires only a few lines to become familiar with and you will be part of telling the familiar story in a new way. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate and be part of Christmas eve this year. Please be in touch with Elizabeth by email (eliz.tuc@mymts.net) or call the office (204 269 1632)
The Stewardship Committee sent out an email last week with some important information. Please contact the office if you’d like a 3/4 statement of your donations for this year.
We hold in prayer those who have been devastated by Hurricane Fiona, including the people in the Maritimes.
We hold in prayer Lorraine Antosh as she is in hospital.
We continue to hold the people of James Smith Cree Nation and the nearby village of Weldon, Saskatchewan in our prayers.
We are grateful to Jackie and Dennis Snarr and Edgar Rosales for cashiering this Sunday.
