Last year at the Prairie to Pine Regional Annual meeting, Elizabeth was elected as a Commissioner to General Council 44. Because of COVID, this meeting is being held virtually and begins on February 13th with the opening worship and constituting the court; it continues with virtual “listening sessions” and discussion on items brought before the court, and ends with a 4 day virtual meeting July 21-24th. You can see what’s being discussed and decided on, check out the nominations for the new Moderator, and read all the information and follow along, at: https://generalcouncil44.ca/ . They recommend those who are keenly interested in following GC44 register as a guest on PheedLoop, the online platform for the meeting. This will give you full access to all the public sessions, the ability to chat with other participants, easy access to the workbook and agenda, and more. Guest registration is free, but limited spots are available, so click here to sign up now!
Let’s share God’s love in February! We’ll be collecting warm hats, mitts, and socks; pull-top cans of soup, stew and baked beans, packages of hot chocolate, instant oatmeal and women’s feminine products for West Broadways Community Ministry until February 13th. The cart will be out Sunday to Thursday 9-11am.
It’s time to send out the tax receipts from Trinity. They will be sent out by email for those who have an email address and mailed to those without email. If you’d like a paper copy of your receipt, please be in touch with Steve in the office (204 269 1632).
It’s time to subscribe or renew your subscription to Broadview (formerly The Observer). Our group rate is $25.00. Please drop off cash or mail cheques (payable to Trinity United Church), 933 Summerside Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3T 4Y1 by February 15, along with any address changes.
Scripture to ponder for the week: Matthew 5:43-45: You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your God in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Scripture for February 13, 2022: Jeremiah 17:5-10; Psalm 1; I Corinthians 15:12-20; Luke 6:17-26
As we move through the season after the Epiphany we are reminded we are not alone, we are chosen, and called to listen for God’s voice, for God’s call in our lives. How can we make space to hear the voice of God in our lives this week? Are we aware of and thankful for our blessings? How are we as individuals and as a faith family working to create a world of abundance, joy, and mercy for all?

We need your help! This is the time of year when we search for folks who are willing to serve Trinity in the many volunteer opportunities available. We wonder if you will prayerfully consider where you might offer your gifts of time, talent and skills to enable ministry and mission to happen:
The Nominations committee is looking for folks to serve the board; a short description is provided which is not exhaustive but does give you an idea of what they do:
Deputy Chair of the Board – you would share this position and work with another person to learn to chair the board; meets 8 times a year on the 4th Wednesday evening with an Executive meeting the Wednesday before; is a member of the Executive which usually meets 8 times a year; participates in the discussion and decision making of the board;
Board Secretary: you would attend and take minutes at the board meeting following United Church guidelines and ensure they are properly saved and stored at Trinity; before the meeting, you would receive reports and send out an agenda and any reports.
Following a meeting on December 23, the Board prayerfully decided to cancel all in person worship and have staff work from home except for essential tasks.
Trinity United Church continues to offer weekly YouTube services; Sunday School kits for at-home Sunday School; monthly Zoom gatherings for senior Sunday School/Youth Group, as well as weekly/monthly programs such as walking group, Yoga and Bible Study.
IMPORTANT PROVISO: The above Motion must be in full compliance with current and future provincial Public Health Orders.
