Moment for Trinity – Tuesday October 5, 2021

Here is the video for the Trinity moment for this week:

We hold John Daly in our prayers; and celebrate with Norma  with our prayers as she turns 92 on Wednesday!
We continue to hold Bev and Bernie Wiens and their family in our prayers as Bev has chemo.

Scripture to ponder for the week: Matthew 5:44-45: But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of God.

As members of the Outreach/Garden committee we are blessed to receive many thankful comments such as these during the season.
Expressions of gratitude from Trinity’s gardeners:
“Thank you so much for giving us great opportunities regarding gardening.  Thanks to everyone who arranged and involved with this gardening project”  from Khaleda
“I would like to thank you and your team for continuous support and cooperation throughout this garden journey. Me and my family really enjoyed this garden experience.  Looking forward to continue this beautiful experience with you.”  from Akhtar
“Thank you for choosing us for a plot this year.  My family is fed with healthy veggies!” from Leslie

With this summer’s drought, we have been faced with the need to supply water constantly so that the crops had a chance to flourish. Unfortunately water costs money! With this in mind, we ask you, if you are able, to assist us in this huge cost. On Thanksgiving Sunday, there will be a basket available for any donations. If you wish, you may also drop off donations during the week at the church office or in the mail slot. Thank you from the committee and from our gardeners!

MPQ members are making 215 quilts for the Honouring and Remembering project which began with the discovery of the 215 children’s graves in Kamloops, BC. The Sew and Sews have contributed 49 so about 25% of the total of 194 so far; attached are three examples of the quilts offered. One by Mary, one by Sydney, and one by Sue. What wonderfully creative and generous quilters!

A reminder that we continue to collect fruit, granola bars and juice boxes that are delivered to West Broadway Community Ministry. The cart is outside for donations Sunday to Friday mornings from 9-1pm. Call the church at 204-269-1632 to arrange alternate times to drop off donations.

Bomber parking and crosswalks: the Bombers are cautiously optimistic that we may make the play offs this year and would like us to find folks for the two games:
Sunday November 28 with a 3:30pm game start time – our start time will be earlier
Sunday December 5 with a 3:30pm game start time – our start time will be earlier
If you’d like to volunteer for these games, please be in touch with Irma or Marilyn.

Scripture for Sunday October 12, 2021: Joel 2:21-27; Psalm 126; 1 Timothy 2:1-7; Matthew 6:25-33. This week is in person, indoor worship along with recorded worship.

We are looking for someone to help out with the payroll duties for Trinity. Everything is now online and tasks are twice a month. Please be in touch with Gerta or the office if you would like to help out or know someone who has these skills or might want to learn.

Programs at Trinity are now resuming:
Bible Study: Mondays 7-8pm on Zoom
Holy Yoga: Saturdays 10-11am followed by coffee and conversation until noon on Zoom – no Yoga Saturday October 9th
Trinity Walkers: The fall colors are here.  October 5th & 7th let’s walk Henteleff Park. Park in the lot at 1964 St Mary’s Rd. October 12th & 14th let’s walk Fort Whyte. I will be parking near the McGillivray entrance near Front St and Sigma Ave. As always, if you have any questions or know of a place that you enjoy walking do not hesitate to phone or email and let me know.. All walks start at 9:30 and please call me prior to our walk so that we can walk together.

Sermon by Phone: Listen to the recording of Sunday worship each week by calling a local phone number (204 410 1384); please share this information with your friends who don’t have internet access; the recording is uploaded each week on Thursday and will be available until the following Wednesday.

Prayer: Creator God, in the holy mystery that is you, we search for ways to describe our relationship with you, with Jesus and with others. We discover that it is beyond our words yet still we try! May the awesome beauty of your creation remind us of your amazing power in our world. Amen.

Know that we are praying for each one of you as you find your way through this time. If you have comments, suggestions, or any thoughts about worship or how you’re doing, please be in touch. Trinity is here for you and we will respond. May you know God’s presence and peace with you as we continue to move through this new reality,

Following a meeting on September 8th, the Board prayerfully decided to begin in person, indoor service at Trinity on September 12, 2021. This motion was passed:

In-person, indoor worship must ensure: Contact tracing information gathered; COVID screening questions asked; Mandatory masking; Hand sanitizer use; Social distancing between families and individuals; No singing during service; Main floor sanitized following service;

For the safety and health of all people attending in-person indoor worship at Trinity United Church, Trinity United Church strongly advises that everyone attending in-person indoor worship be fully vaccinated. We cannot guarantee you will not contract COVID while attending worship.

If you are unable to attend in-person indoor worship, Trinity United Church continues to offer weekly You tube services; Sunday School kits for at-home Sunday School; monthly Zoom gatherings for senior Sunday School/Youth Group, as well as weekly/monthly programs such as walking group, Yoga and Bible Study.

IMPORTANT PROVISO: The above Motion must be in full compliance with current and future provincial Public Health Orders.

According to the current Manitoba Public Health Orders we can have 100 people on the main floor. Volunteers will be available to help you at 10:15 am (asking COVID questions, contact tracing, hand sanitizing, ushering, etc.). Check out our great new carpeting in the Sanctuary.
