A message from Kairos for September 30th:
Everything Indigenous people do is in a circle. Since the power of nature works in a circle, to be one with all that is, we too must work in a circle.
In the old days all our power came from the Sacred Hoop of the nation and as long as the hoop was unbroken the people were strong.
The Great Spirit gave life in a circle, from childhood to childhood. Our children are there to teach us and for us to teach them. Our children were taken out of our Sacred Hoop and our hoop has been broken.
For decades we mourned the loss of our children. They never completely returned home.
We asked the Great Spirit to help us repair our Sacred Hoop and bring our children home. We know that Mother Earth kept them close to her and kept them safe all these years. We now ask you, Great Spirit to take them home with you and repair our Sacred Hoop.
On September 30, people all across Canada will wear orange shirts to remember and honour Indigenous children who were taken from their communities and families to residential schools. This Orange Shirt Day is also the first observance of a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. For settler Christians in particular, this is a time when we can reflect on our role in colonialism and the residential school system, and our ongoing responsibility to make reparations. Executive Minister Murray Pruden will be hosting a candle light vigil to honour the children who never made it home from Residential Schools and survivors. Please join us for an evening of remembering and please bring a candle or a light. A reminder that we continue to collect fruit, granola bars and juice boxes that are delivered to West Broadway Community Ministry. The cart is outside for donations Sunday to Friday mornings from 9-1pm. Call the church at 204-269-1632 to arrange alternate times to drop off donations.

Following a meeting on September 8th, the Board prayerfully decided to begin in person, indoor service at Trinity every second Sunday; the next in person, indoor worship is September 26th.This motion was passed:
In-person, indoor worship must ensure: Contact tracing information gathered; COVID screening questions asked; Mandatory masking; Hand sanitizer use; Social distancing between families and individuals; No singing during service; Main floor sanitized following service;
For the safety and health of all people attending in-person indoor worship at Trinity United Church, Trinity United Church strongly advises that everyone attending in-person indoor worship be fully vaccinated. We cannot guarantee you will not contract COVID while attending worship.
If you are unable to attend in-person indoor worship, Trinity United Church continues to offer weekly You tube services; Sunday School kits for at-home Sunday School; monthly Zoom gatherings for senior Sunday School/Youth Group, as well as weekly/monthly programs such as walking group, Yoga and Bible Study.
IMPORTANT PROVISO: The above Motion must be in full compliance with current and future provincial Public Health Orders.
According to the current Manitoba Public Health Orders we can have 150 people on the main floor. Volunteers will be available to help you at 10:15 am (asking COVID questions, contact tracing, hand sanitizing, ushering, etc.). Check out our great new carpeting in the Sanctuary.
