Worship for Sunday August 29, 2021

Here is the link for Shared Summer Worship for this Sunday: https://youtu.be/NT1UOrJliH0

We continue to hold Bev and Bernie Wiens and their family in our prayers as Bev continues chemotherapy treatments; they so appreciate the cards, food, thoughts and prayer people have given and say thank you.

On September 30, people all across Canada will wear orange shirts to remember and honour Indigenous children who were taken from their communities and families to residential schools. This Orange Shirt Day is also the first observance of a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. For settler Christians in particular, this is a time when we can reflect on our role in colonialism and the residential school system, and our ongoing responsibility to make reparations. More information is coming and you can click on the United Church link for ideas.
Indigenous Ministries and Justice at The United Church of Canada encourages everyone to participate in Orange Shirt Day! https://united-church.ca/news/orange-shirt-day-2021

A reminder that we continue to collect fruit, granola bars and juice boxes that are delivered to West Broadway Community Ministry. The cart is outside for donations Sunday to Friday mornings from 9-1pm. Call the church at 204-269-1632 to arrange alternate times to drop off donations.

Spring Clean-up!! Mark Tuesday September 7 at 9am on your calendar! Property Committee is hosting a spring/summer/fall cleaning and dusting of inside the church. Even though we haven’t been in our building for a long time, the dust and dirt have walked right in! Please wear a mask, bring your gloves, cleaning supplies and solutions, rags, buckets, etc. and join us at the church to help make the building shine!

Many of our programs are taking a break so everyone can enjoy being outside (and not at our computers!) and will resume in the fall.

Trinity Walkers: August 31 & September 2. Let’s walk the new Leaf Gardens in Assiniboine Park.  Park in the Leaf parking lot. All walks start at 9:30. Please phone me it you plan to join, I hate to start a  walk without you.

We are looking for someone to help out with the payroll duties for Trinity. Everything is now online and tasks are twice a month. Please be in touch with Gerta or the office if you would like to help out or know someone who has these skills or might want to learn.

Sermon by phone: Listen to the recording of Sunday worship each week by calling a local phone number (204-410-1384). Please share this information with your friends who don’t have internet access; the recording is uploaded on Thursdays and is available until the following Wednesday.

Bomber parking and crosswalks: a huge thank you to all who have volunteered to help out at the Bomber games for the new season!

Know that we are praying for each one of you as you find your way through this time. If you have comments, suggestions, or any thoughts about worship or how you’re doing, please be in touch. Trinity is here for you and we will respond. May you know God’s presence and peace with you as we continue to move through this new reality,

Elizabeth

Following a meeting on June 29, the co-chairs of the Board sent a letter to the congregation regarding the Province of Manitoba going into “Code Orange”. From the Executive: “The consensus was that these changes are not significant enough to warrant opening up our church for indoor or outdoor services, at this time…Your health and safety are our top priority and we are not willing to jeopardize that…We look forward to the virtual Services that will be provided by Trinity, in association with Westminster, Spirit Path, Transcona Memorial and UC in Meadowood…We will wait and see what any new announcements from the Province may bring…”
