We welcome Steve, our new administrative assistant/receptionist, to our staff team! He began work August 3rd and will be the voice you hear on the phone Monday-Friday, 9am to 1pm. Welcome Steve!
We continue to hold Bev and Bernie Wiens and their family in our prayers as Bev continues chemotherapy treatments; they so appreciate the cards, food, thoughts and prayer people have given and say thank you.
Our Staff Associate, Irma Nadeau, will be on holidays from Monday, August 9 through to Friday, August 20. She will return to work on Monday, August 23.
A reminder that we continue to collect fruit, granola bars and juice boxes that are delivered to West Broadway Community Ministry. The cart is outside for donations Sunday to Friday mornings from 9-1pm. Call the church at 204-269-1632 to arrange alternate times to drop off donations.
Bomber parking and crosswalks: a huge thank you to all who have volunteered to help out at the Bomber games for the new season! Our first game went well and we look forward to a very successful fund raiser for Trinity because of all the people who have volunteered in so many ways!
Shared Summer Worship Services: Trinity has joined with Westminster, Spirit Path, Transcona Memorial and UC in Meadowood to offer shared worship for the summer months (from now until August 22nd). Each week will be led by a different church with other churches participating. The link to the service will be sent out on Thursday in the regular email; each service will be uploaded to “Sermon by Phone”; and will be available in the regular way we access online worship. We hope you join with your friends to worship in the Shared Summer Worship Services!
Scripture for Sunday August 15, 2021: Proverbs 9:1-6; Psalm 111; Ephesians 5:15-20; John 6:51-58.
We are looking for someone to help out with the payroll duties for Trinity. Everything is now online and tasks are twice a month. Please be in touch with Gerta or the office if you would like to help out or know someone who has these skills or might want to learn.
All of our programs (except the Walkers) are taking a break so everyone can enjoy being outside (and not at our computers!) and will resume in the fall.
Trinity Walkers: August 10th & 12th walk is planned for Crescent Drive. I will park in the lot by Thermea Spa which is on Crescent Drive and start walking at 9:30 AM. Please phone me if you plan on joining me or to arrange walking some other time.
Sermon by Phone: Listen to the recording of Sunday worship each week by calling a local phone number (204 410 1384); please share this information with your friends who don’t have internet access; the recording is uploaded each week on Thursday and will be available until the following Wednesday.
Scripture to ponder for the week: 1Corinthians 13:1-3: I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains—but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned—but if I have no love, this does me no good.
Prayer: Holy, creating God, on these very warm days, we relish the sound of the rain, grateful for the moisture it brings to all living things! May we know your spirit blowing through our lives as a cool breeze; may the shade of the tree bring us relief as we ponder our faith, may we be reminded of your presence in all we do. Amen.
Know that we are praying for each one of you as you find your way through this time. If you have comments, suggestions, or any thoughts about worship or how you’re doing, please be in touch. Trinity is here for you and we will respond. May you know God’s presence and peace with you as we continue to move through this new reality,
Elizabeth
Following a meeting on June 29, the co-chairs of the Board sent a letter to the congregation regarding the Province of Manitoba going into “Code Orange”. From the Executive: “The consensus was that these changes are not significant enough to warrant opening up our church for indoor or outdoor services, at this time…Your health and safety are our top priority and we are not willing to jeopardize that…We look forward to the virtual Services that will be provided by Trinity, in association with Westminster, Spirit Path, Transcona Memorial and UC in Meadowood…We will wait and see what any new announcements from the Province may bring…”
