Announcements

We need your help for Lent Sundays! Please sign-up in the narthex (north wall) to usher, greet, read scripture, candle lighters for Lent, serve communion, and lead the prayers. Thank you for being involved in your church offering your time and talents.

Candle with Care has been delivered, on behalf of the congregation, to Linda Young and family as they have experienced a recent bereavement.

This Sunday after worship the Praise & Worship video will be shown in the sanctuary.

Thank you to Leah Hes for providing some resource information following the service last Sunday on Mental Health. It is posted on the flip charts in the narthex. If you would like to receive this information by email please let the office know.

The Big Question – March 1 at 9:30 a.m. in the Youth room. Article: Be Kind to those in your church living with mental illness and mental health challenges.

With cold and flu season upon us we ask you to respect one another by using the hand sanitizer provided throughout the sanctuary. Bump elbows, send a wave, smile or just say hi during this time so we can keep everyone healthy.

Mary (the little person from the back of the church) has been on vacation too long! If she is still enjoying the company of your little one, it’s time for her to come home. Please return her to the back of the sanctuary so Joseph can have a break and she can join baby Jesus and the rest of her friends.

 

ANNUAL MEETING

The Annual Meeting of Trinity United Church will take place following worship Sunday, March, 1, 2020 to receive the annual reports, approve the budget, hold elections, and transact any other business brought before it. It will also include a discussion and decision about the remaining pews. The Annual Report and discussion paper about the pews will be sent online and available in a paper copy.

Good Shepherd Anglican invites everyone to their Ash Wednesday service Wednesday February 26 @ 7pm.

ANNUAL APPLEBEE’S FLAPJACK FUNDRAISER – This year’s Trinity/Good Shepherd Flapjack Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Feb 29th from 8-10:00 am at the Grant Park Applebee’s. Tickets $15 on sale in the church Narthex before and after the Trinity service this Sunday Feb 23rd. This will be our last Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebee’s as they have discontinued the offering… so let’s have our final one be a memorable one!

“We are in need of people to work as servers for our last TUC/GSA Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraiser on Feb 29th for the 9-10am shift. Sign-up sheets are posted in the narthex. No experience is necessary and you will always be working with someone who has done it before. Thanks everybody” The Fundraising Committee.

We are hosting the World Day of Prayer Service for churches in the Fort Garry area on Friday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. This year’s service, Rise! Take Your Mat and Walk, has been written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Zimbabwe and has been prepared and adapted for use in Canada by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada. We hope many of you will join us for this service offered worldwide and for refreshments to follow. Thank you to many for responding to our varied requests for volunteers as we prepare for hosting this event. Please see the sign-sheets in the narthex if you are able to contribute by helping with the reception following the service. Mary Mother of the Church is hosting “Steve Bell in Concert” March 20 at 7:30pm. See bulletin Board for ticket information!

SSCFF – SAVE THE DATE: Spring Concert Monday April 20 at 1:00 pm. Please join us for a concert with Liz Kristjanson and the Whyte Ridge Elementary School Choir, vocalists and percussionists. Closer to the date we will again be asking for donations of oranges and apples to be given to the children as a small token of appreciation.

DID YOU KNOW several chairs have been reupholstered, a couple have been loaned to us from other churches for a trial period, and a new one with arms are all in the sanctuary? Please try them out and let us know which ones are best.

If you or someone you know has access to coupons for baby formula, please bring them to the church and put them in the appropriate container on the shelves near the washrooms. They will be collected and given to Winnipeg Harvest to purchase formula throughout the year. Thanks from Outreach.

The Food Bank at Ft. Richmond Baptist Church is once again in need of plastic bags. The regular grocery size and the smaller produce bags are needed. Please place them in the receptacle provided in the narthex. Thank you for helping!

The Great Canadian Hymn Sing Gala concert Mar. 1 @ 3 pm at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church, 525 Wardlaw Ave.

Church cancellation: Worship service is cancelled when parking lot is inaccessible. Please call the church to hear a cancellation message or listen to CBC 990AM or 89.3 FM or CJOB 680AM.

Deadline In order for your announcements to be published for Sunday, please have the information to the office at tuc@mymts.net no later than Wednesday at 11:00 am. Thank you for your consideration.

In Case of an Emergency We have an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) located to the left of the exit doors to the parking lot, a First Aid Kit, a walker, and a Comfort Care Kit located on the shelf to the left of the large entry doors to the sanctuary.

Trinity United is Scent Free Please refrain from using products that contain scents as they may affect the breathing ability of others.

From the Property Committee: We now have security cameras in our parking lot – remember to smile!

Electronic Recycling You can bring batteries, light bulbs, cords, and any electronics to the church and place them in the marked blue box in the narthex to be properly recycled. Is your old TV too heavy to carry into the church? Just call the church, leave us a message and we will be happy to come and collect it!

New: We will also collect used vehicle oil, filters and anti-freeze and any paint; call and we’ll pick it up.
